I love the watch of course; it haunts me a bit.

But the key here is the customer service.  You are correct; no brand is exempt from these sorts of issues.  Especially with new movements and designs.  I can think of a good handful of other brands that have had similar issues in recent years.  I think the course of action for this sort of timepiece was absolutely correct by Chopard.
