A question on accuracy
My 1815 seems to be running a little faster than I expected....to be exact, it has gained 91 seconds over a period of 17 days, which works out to about 5.3 seconds a day. While still within standards, I'm wondering if this is normal, especially for an esteemed manufacture like Lange. I've been told by some that when a watch is new, it tends to be off a bit until a few weeks later. Any truth in that statement? I've wound it every morning about the same time and it hasn't stopped running since I got it new, and it has been on my wrist all day with the night being on the nightstand dial up.
Not a huge problem, but I need to know....yes, I'm a little bugged by this as my SM300 gains 2 seconds after a 7 week period which is phenomenal.

It is not a Chronometer, and it is within Chronometer specifications. So, all good.
About the statement that a watch has to run for a few weeks before being let's say accurate, that's true. It has been confirmed to me by several watchmakers. Best, nicolas
But they passed the
accuracy tests before they left the factory. I think the break rumor is just that, rumor.
Perhaps things are slightly different in a controlled environment?
Just thinking out loud. On the wrist, there are elements that probably can't be simulated as well in factory testing.

...though I\'m still divided on the deviation rate. Quite big, IMO. Will see if this improves over the next month or so

I would send the watch back to your AD. The daily tolerance for a Lange is +3 -2 so your watch is working way too fast. Lange, Patek and Rolex currently produce watches that way surpass chronometer levels by twice or even more. For many accuracy may play ...

I set it at the shop when I picked it up to my reference clock, so if any magnetism occurred, it would have been before I picked it up. Anyway, I\'ll do that run in and see how this pans out.

You have a mechanical item that is supposed to work properly for years in all sorts of conditions. Give it a chance to prove itself to you. Let it run down. Sit in the drawer one day not running. Wind it up and each night put it down a different way - dia...

I will try some of these. I honestly wasn\'t paying attention to time keeping as I don\'t usually do, at least not on a daily basis, but I happened to check yesterday against my reference clock, and it look further out than I expected it would be.
I think it's alright
but u should try different positions when u r not wearing the watch eg Dial up.. to see if the +5 can be offset

Have re set it this morning to a Watchville app timing and will see how the additional positions and weeks ahead changes things, or not

A magnetized watch runs minutes fast a day (not seconds).. As for the 5 seconds or so fast per day, like some have said, it's within tolerance.. Have u been winding it at the same time daily? I say so because most watches are adjusted for isochronism to 2...

This has not improved and it has bothered me more than needed. Had a good meet up with Sham1 over lunch and he confirmed what I should do...send the watch back in to correct the +5.2 secs per day. Yeah, my OCD was just too much to ignore. Let's hope this ...

Mechanical watch is like micro machines and to be honest, best accuracy is usually achieved buy using high percentages of state-of-the-art-robotic works in the production / assembly process like Rolex . But A Lange , and many other haute horlogerie pieces...

And the funny fact is that in my case, one particular non-certified , non-adjusted ETA based dress watch (by a reputable brand) that I owned for the past 10 yrs is running at a steady less than +1s/day. Blowing all my new and old Poinçon de Genève , COSC ...

As for ETA based, they run perfectly so consistently, I've learnt that in house is not necessarily better. My Tudor Black Bay with the ETA movement runs +2 sec fast every 20 days, which is superb, in my view.

While Tudor is mostly ETA based, they use first grade base units and 'rework' them to a much higher standard. Not very difficult to understand after seeing all the 'crude' looking Rolex movements with near quartz accuracy. The little linen dial I purchase...

so some patience is in order my friend I also think you should check it once a month if it does not improve and you have better expectations. Report it on the next service in five years. In the meanwhile enjoy your beautiful piece. Best Regards Edward
I've kept it going to nearly 5 months and I just can't take it :-)
Sending it in to Lange today....it is seriously annoying when because my PADI Turtle runs more accurately - I expected it to run relatively accurately, but given the price point, I was willing to make some concessions - it has exceeded all my expectations...

I would have sent it back after two weeks! Afterall the watch had undergone lots of tests before leaving the factory and I doubt if the trip to Malaysia would have affected the accuracy of the watch that drastically.

In my opinion consistency is more important than objective accuracy. By that I mean a piece that's running at a steady gain of 5s per day is IMO better than the one running inconsistently at a -2/+4 range. This is especially the case if the piece is 5 pos...
