Eyeballing the new Gaylord Hotel
Gaylord is a brand name for large convention hotels run by Marriott, but owned by Ryman Hospitality who formerly used the Gaylord name. 🤷🏻♂️ I’m confused after reading about it/them. They have 6-7 hotels in the Southeast, including Opryland, and recently opened a huge facility on San Diego Bay, in the city of Chula Vista. All together, the Gaylord facilities have about 10,000 hotel rooms plus convention facilities. This gigantic new hotel was being built the last few times we came down here (LINK & LINK to Previous Walks) but now it is open and we came to take a look around.

Having parked in the public parking lots, we approached the hotel from the Bay side.

A huge atrium with immense screens covers the entire bay side of the hotel.

The aquarium film was maybe just a bit TOO REAL for comfort.

The convention halls are on the land side of the hotel. Yawn, been in too many, Dun that too many times. We didn’t bother to inspect this part of the facility.

Even though it was a gray morning there were plenty of tourists fooling around outside the hotel.

Probably some locals, too.

We left the hotel and walked along the grass by the marina.

We walked along watching the paddle boarders, fish jumping, pelicans flying, squirrels cavorting, birds singing —
everything you could ask for except sunshine. This is our famous June Gloom.
Thanks for walking with us today,

by the way (I mean Bay).
