I came, I saw, I bought the watch...
Currently spending a week in Japan, I had one mandatory purchase to make. Already aware the green dial GMT was long gone and the 42mm blue dial close to sold out I was open to alternatives, I saw the SBGR089 in the first retailer I visited, I was completely unaware of it prior to arriving here. The crosshatched/starburst brown dial & strap combination, the large crown, it just screamed at me. Having looked around a further 5/6 stockists it was a clear front runner.
37mm was a massive psychological hurdle for me, being exactly 5mm smaller than any other watch I own but once I strapped it on I knew it was coming with me, it's 13.3mm height really helps, making it quite hefty and raising it well up on the wrist. I can confirm everything I have ever read about GS, mechanical perfection, refined style, individuality and incredible value, the dial is incredible, case flawless, detail barely visible to the naked eye...
I am really happy with my choice, it will not be my last GS.

Very nice purchase! And from what I have gathered, a GS rarely stays alone for long, so I can picture some others joining the collection sooner or later Enjoy Japan!

I'm happy to see you cross the psychological hurdle and get a 37mm watch. It looks fantastic on your wrist with perfect proportion. I guess the long lugs also help.

I don't think there is any special function to that crown
