JLC SIHH 2013: The new collection.
Of course we'll come back to each of these novelties, but I know your legendary impatience, so, in " avant première " here are the novelties, this year, from the Grande Maison.
Basically, JLC focused on three lines, three families: The Master Control, the Ultra Thin, and the Grande Tradition.
Two other important facts:
- We have a new Duometre, the Unique Travel Time:

- The Jubilé collection, whose purpose is to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the Manufacture, and which composed of:
1/ The MGT Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantieme Perpetuel.
A 42 mm case housing all the virtues included in the title. In platinum, only, and limited to 180 pieces.
2/ The MUT 39 mm:
A new MUT case, which can undisputably be called Ultra Thin. In platinum only, limited to 880 pieces.
3/ The Gyrotourbillon III:
The combination of an instantaneous Digital Chronograph and of aFlying Tourbillon with a spherical hairsrping, in the new case of the Master Grande Tradition.
- The Master Control novelties:
1/ The Master Tourbillon: Some slight changes, almost subtle, such as a re designed tourbillon cage, and the rotor.
Same size.
2/ The Master Calendar.
Back to the roots, back to elegance for this new Master Calendar: A Triple Date moonphase, available in SS or in RG, 39 mm case.
- The other Ultra Thin watches.
One round, one rectangular, both more thin than ultra thin.
1/ The Grande MUT 41 mm / 7, 4 mm available in SS or in RG.
2/ The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface. A Grande Reverso which is 1, 7 mm thicker than a Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931, but which has two re designed faces.
Elegant and friendly, in rose gold or in stainless steel.
- The Deep Sea Chronograph Black.
An interesting blend of ceramic and aluminium powder, for this 44 mm big watch.
- The Rendez Vous Celestial.
A 37, 5 mm white gold case, showing a delicious astronomical dial.

Duometre is really not my cup of tea. They decided to touch the master control tourbillon, which needed serious facelift, and what do they do? Just redesign the cage and the rotor. How about a less chunky bulky case... Like all fine tunes versions had? Ho...

No! But there was an older version of the calibre mistakenly placed in a window,

The MUT is a beauty and the "rendez-vous" is such a nice and interesting watch watch, with its presentation, title and complication. (too bad diamonds are there, as usual on lady's watch)

Pity it is not transparent caseback (as in the VC 1955). Wondering will there be possibly of boutique edition for the Jubilee pieces, similar to the 80th Anniversary of Reverso. Perhaps you can kindly help us probe a bit ;p Thanks Melvin
There will not be Boutique Editions of the Jubilé Collection, AFAIK.

Two pieces that I instantly liked
1) The Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantieme Perpetuel looks absolutey stunning but unfortunately not within my pay scale :( 2) The Master Calendar which I really like and would love to see in the flesh. Thanks Nicolas for the prompt photos. :)

All in all, the Jubilé collection is quite strong, I think.
As for the other products, one strong point is that JLC worked a lot on some small details, which are important. One example: The cases. The MGT for example has a totally new case which is close to the Duometre, which, I think, is a compliment. More to co...

I heard many positive feedbacks in the Salon about this Deep Sea Black.
From very different people! When I was told that this was a 44 mm case, I coudn't beleive it, and had to try it. It wears like a 42 mm watch. A lot has to be said on this Deep Sea Chrono. Stay tuned! Best, Nicolas

I used to be able to picture JLC in my mind
The last 5 years or so they have released so many models, in so many different areas, I can't do that anymore. This isn't a bad thing, but just my feeling.
It was often the case, in a distant past...
A past where JLC was wealthy. Oppposed to a Past when the Quartz threatened horology, and not only JLC, by the way. Can you keep track of all the Memovoxes or Reversos which were produced ? I can't. Same for models like the Futurematics, or Powermatic, or...

I LOVE the front, 1930's style face. However, the back side has the "Night/Day" printing, which really bugs me, since they should be "AM/PM," due to the positioning of the 24-hour hand running from 24-to-12 on the left side and 12-to-24 on the right side....

I think Dean has a good point. Dean, I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty to expand. The sub-dial on the back has one hand, and the dial shows 12 at the top and 24 at the bottom. Presumably the hand rotates once in 24 hours - 24 indicating midnight...
Still don"t get it.
Here is a picture of the dial: Where do you see a hand on the sub dial of the globe? Where do you see the words Day and Night? Best, Nicolas ...
