My first GS - the SBGX097 🇯🇵
This is where the GS story began for me, about 10 years ago. While I was dreaming of the SBGH035 - a dream turned reality some months after this was acquired - I yearned to understand, what the fuss was all about too much to wait. When I found an opportunity to experience the brand (remember, these were the days where GS could only be found in a handful of places in all of Europe), I bagged this one from Spain. With a bit of help from Ken, a long time Purist, I got a new strap from Japan and was set. The quartz movement is super accurate all these years after, always being within less than 5 seconds per year accuracy. And the thinness of the watch is an added bonus. Soon after I discovered you could match watches with straps not supplied by the OEM - and the rest is history 😂🤷🏻♂️

Is it smooth seconds? Always admired the way it moves without hacking. Enjoy!
A normal quartz jumping seconds…
But hits the mark precisely without fail. A higher torque motor to ensure this (and to move the heavier GS hands) 👍🏻
Fortunately you have the wrist to pull it off 🦾
For all its brilliance it is a little bit on the large side 😊
That would have been my approach as well (similarly sized wrist)

Normally I'd say too bad it has a date... but who cares! That is so clean and beautiful! Credor, KS, Pressage, Seiko etc now seem to get respect but I feel they are still all underrated!

It's certainly an amazing "outside of the box" technology! Mind blowing how even after weeks of running when the second hand hits 12 my computer simultaneously changes

Also have three Hi-Beats in total, one quartz, and two regular beat automatics. But both the Spring Drives are Seiko as opposed to GS.

Bought it on a trip to Japan in 23, but I had already decided to buy the watch before going there. As a daily it is incomparable to anything else for me because of the SD movement, being able to trust your wrist watch as much as the watch on your satellit...

My only gripe with the watch are the minute markers, since they are not horizontally on the dial but between the dial and bezel on a separate angled platform they are very hard to read depending on the lighting angle. I use a lot the seconds hand in my da...
Hour markers are
beautifully done and glisten in the sun like freshly written CD backsides, I have no problem with those. The minute markers though, are difficult to see, I generally need to tilt the watch towards where the second hand points in order to see where exactly...

Yes I can imagine they do and Japanese firms are very conservative so I don’t expect a change

They are slowly making the first pieces without, so it is generally moving in the right direction 🤞🏻👍🏻
