Jaeger-LeCoultre

my first JLC

Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for months, lusting after all things JLC. I boought my first "real" watch, a Breitling Chrono Avenger (let's keep the laughter down, it was my first love), a little over a year ago - researching that purchase brought me here, and opened my eyes to haute horologie.

I've enjoyed my (stealthy) time here, and today, I aquired my first truly fine timepiece.

I'm currently overseas (Turkey last week, Kuwait this week) and was walking through the local mall. I happened across a shop that dealt in a number of manufacture's (Zenith, Piaget, IWC, Glashutte, etc., and my personal favorite, JLC) offerings.

It was the first time I'd ever seen a JLC "in the flesh", much less such an extensive selection (Reverso Grande Date, Reverso Grande GMT, AMVOX, Master Compressors, etc.) and I had to have one.

I fought the good fight against myself, but today, I surrendered o lust.

I came within INCHES of a Reverso Grande GMT, but ended up walking away with a stainless Master Control. The staff at Behbehani were discreet, unfailingly polite, and very accomodating - a joy to work with. They joked that I knew more about the JLC line than they did...

My Master Control is simple, classic, timeless - and I'm in love with this piece of mechanical art.

I'm an information systems engineer, and the dichotomy of being such a bit-head and wearing a MACHINE on my wrist is ironic and amusing in a quiet, sardonic way.

I'll have another, please!!! Thanks to all of you who (unwittingly) helped me to own a Jaeger-LeCoultre.
