No really. I do need to slow down!
So here's one that turned up a few days before the SS 3180. I wasn't looking out for this watch, because I had no idea it existed.
A 6146-8020 from August 1969 in a crazy case and - importantly - in absolutely flawless NOS condition.
How could I resist?

A 36000 hi-beat movement. The one that I originally was planning to get to "complete" my Grand Seiko sub-collection along with one Spring Drive and one quartz. So much for that plan!
What staggers me about my (very) early days of building up a Grand Seiko collection is that I'm able to pick up a NOS piece in - what I believe to be (because I've seen very few available) - a rare case, from over 45 years ago, for less than a third of the price of an equivalent piece from the current collection. That is absolutely not to criticise the modern pieces - I think they are by far the best value for money watches from any brand on the planet, and when it comes to dial, hands, and case finishing, they punch above so far above their weight that you start to look at watches from Switzerland with a new perspective.
I just hope I'm able to track down some more of my targeted pieces before others start to wake up and realise what they're missing out on. No doubt in that hunt, more surprises similar to this one will surface.
I mean, come on...

... just look at that.
What a watch.
Kind regards,
Gerald.
