Greetings!
I just want to ask your opinion regarding a seeming problem with my watch. I bought a calatrava, ref 6000g, bnew from my ad in nov 2010. I must say that most of the time, the watch stays in the safe because i have a small of number of watches that i use in rotation. Last week, i wore the watch and was surprised to see that the seconds hand of the watch got tarnished. I brought it to my AD yesterday thinking that the water/dust resistance of the watch is already compromised. (just for the record, i am very careful with my watch. It never gets wet, and am proud to say that until now, no hairlines exists!) When the in-house watch technician finished his initial inspection, he told me that the hands was tarnished because of sunlight exposure. I disagreed telling him that i seldom use the watch. Most of its life with me is in the safe. But he insists that since the hand is made of gold, it is bound to tarnish because of sunlight exposure. He even pointed out that he learned of this during his training in singapore with Geneva Master Time. I rest my case and accepted what he said since he knows more than me about these matters. I am writing this post to seek your expertise about this matter. Is this really normal as the technician pointed out? I must admit that i am still unsatisfied with his findings and i am resolved to go back again and raise once more my concern. But in the process, i need your help to further my arguments about it. By the way, the watch keeps perfect time, only the tarnished hand bothers me. Thank you in advance for your response.
