I got this 5508 of 1958 vintage some months ago, and showed it here a few days after my purchase. It came with a nice riveted Oyster bracelet, very tight and in good condition. But It was marked with a date of early 1960´s though.
I wished to improve some details of my new watch, and after I got a nice set of hands matching the index lume, I begun searching for another bracelet.
I was fortunate to get this other bracelet a few days ago. It is not as tight as the previous Oyster, but it is marked 1959... and the bonus...
is in the closing links.
I feel it looks much better now! I hope you agree!

but Rolex really used the Zapon lack on these " gilt " dial in the 50s and in the first half of the 60s.

... explanation. I didn´t know this was actually the lacquer used by Rolex on those far times. So, it is much possible that the failure of this paint under some enviromental conditions led to the changes of dial colors we collectors do like today? Always ...
