I find the Lange, although a lovely watch and amazing movement, colder and most austere than the more artistic and avant-garde Journe. The Lange to me is more “formulaic” in its design; golden ratio, straight lugs, case sides straight up and thicker watch. The Journe on the other hand is more artistic in its design and hence more original and unique. The entire case and lug shape is very sensuous and has a sense of movement versus the more tuetonic Lange. Look at the moon phase design even; the Lange has two clear cut humps yet the Journe has these lovely graceful curves. Nothing is “sharp” about its design. Which is why it is so comfortable in the wrist.
I own two Lange watches and love them. I appreciate them for what they are. But between Lange and Journe I will go with a Journe every time. (Except maybe a Datograph and Zeitwerk. Those are hard to beat.)
