Four for five...
....just about adequate to slake the thirst at dinner

An enjoyable meal with the '06 Taittinger Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blanc starting with the appetisers....fresh,packed with white fruit and slight toasty nose....sheer elegance.
The '12 Silex was in its stride,an aged sauvignon Blanc with citrus notes admixed with peach flavours, underlined on the palate with streak of minerality....drinking well despite its age...a treat.
'94 Chateau Margaux ,not a great vintage, but well into its drinking window was lovely on the nose, red and black fruits on display and complexity, smooth and velvety on the palate with no discernable tannins....one of the best '94s i've had.It went well with the prime rib on the wagon and Rib eye steak.
The '04 Chateau Pontet Canet rounded off the evening,a heavier wine in contrast with the 'Margaux',full of blackcurrants ,cedar wood and hints of tobacco on the bouquet, mid-bodied fruits and evident nuances on the palate....lots of life to go.it served the main courses well as well as the cheese board.
An eau de vie or armagnac might have been the perfect ending
An interesting evening ,yet enjoyable, with wines not necessary from stellar vintages but showing or should i say, drinking well
