Sometimes easy is hard....
Hi Adam,
It goes without saying that you have to go for the one you want to look at and muse over but there are some important subtle aesthetic and technical differences. I have been wondering the same thing since the new model launched is subtly improved and cheaper. I handled two new ones in the AD in London two days ago.
The 225 has perfect length hands, but the new one has bolder hour markers, thicker bezel, colour matched date wheel, better WR and arguably improved (certainly more window filling sized GP1800 movement) aesthetics.
Things missing? I think a micro adjust bracelet would be nice as would some antimagnetic protection and a free sprung balance.
If depreciation or investment is important, you must remember that GPs tend to suffer fairly brutal depreciation and easy and early discounting. Allied to the overall cliff edge the watch market is on, I would be really worried that the new model will soon be available at *cough* quite a tempting price and the issue for a new 225 owner would be quite a painful readjustment.
