Fidgeting ...

Very nice watch and review, Michael. I am similar to others who respect the chronometer ethos, in that I love what GO did with the movement hand synchronization and time setting.

I am interested to know your techniques for 'fidgeting' the AP's. I also synchronise my second and minute hands. The few hacking movements I own I particularly enjoy. And the others I either wind the crown backwards slightly to stop the seconds hand or I know how many turns of the crown it takes for the balance to start up - or a flick of the wrist starts the balance at the right time - so that the seconds are accurate and then I set the minute hand when the seconds are at zero.

So you can see from the above that I REALLY need a GO Senator Chronometer. ;-)

For the size of the movement I wish GO could have squeezed more than 45 hours out of the mainspring. I say that because I tend to wind my watch at 6am every day. So if I don't wear a watch for one day then I like to have a little buffer, say 50-55 hours before it stops. But the point is moot here because the GO does have that nice RdM at the 12:00 position. Although it should have counted backwards from zero when fully wound, like your UN Ship's Chronometer does (I assume).

The 42mm is the upper limit of comfortable for me, and I couldn't get the GO standard strap to fit me, but I am pleased to hear you found a good solution.

Brilliant work, Michael, and congratulations on a fantastic watch.

Andrew
