Glashutte Original Senator Chronometer review - Part III

As I have posted before, I am always drawn to a watch's case.  With a diameter of 42mm and a thickness of just over 12mm, the Senator Chronometer has generous proportions, and probably what I consider a perfect size on my wrist.  I opted for the white gold model.  I seem to recall when the watch was launched a question about the palladium content, and believe it has a high amount.  Please correct me Art if I am wrong on that.  Regardless, the metal has a beautiful and colorless luster.  All parts of the case are polished.  I find it has weathered extremely well, and has shown more resistance to hairline scratches than other WG pieces I have tried.  The overall shape is classic, with straight sidewalls and beautifully integrated lugs.  The crown is sized just right, with plenty of winding grip.

The dial itself has a unique finish and silver-white color, a product of a traditional frosted silver plating technique called "l'argenture grainee".  It is absolutely gorgeous, and the subtle texture contrasts nicely with the pure dial.  Traditional blued hands and a hand polished arbor are fitted.  The power reserve and sub seconds hands are discreetly thin but of a proper length.

Another favorite aesthetic of the watch for me is the milled railroad chapter ring.  To coordinate with the high precision caliber 58-01, it was important to have very crisp minute markings.  The milled ring accomplishes that.  The roman numerals are also milled, helping to add just a little depth to the dial.
