Horological Meandering

Hi guys, Well... as my taste seems to have evolved from dress-watches to sport watches.... now they sort of merge. What is your choice for a sport watch with a movement you can really love.... inside? And bonus: a see-through back to enjoy such? One that ... 

A fine movement in a sport Watch? Theoretically, how can it work? Can you imagine the devastating effects on a movement when you hit your fav ball ( Tennis / Golf / Squash ) ? Even more on a fine, but how fragile movement? A sport Watch? You need a horse,... 

You are very probably right. There must be an exception or two out there. But in a way, you kind of set me straight. Maybe this is why my current batch of faves are not uber-movement sportwatches, but simply strong, dependable, heavily encased 'mules'. I ...

.. yeah, Japan is a very good market for RM. 7 out of 50 RM027 are in Japan..... They are all passionate about watches and the brand and RM himself. RM invited the selected owners to Kyoto after the party and took a long time to discuss with them. Great b... 

I think the following watch with a handmade movement by one of the greatest watchmakers of our era, who also is known to be one of the most decent and kindest. At one point, he held the record for most-complicated watch ever. He certainly went above and b...  

That is a great example of what I'm talking about. Only an integrated bracelet could make it better. I am aware of this watch, but i must have forgotten about it. Thank you!

and Ken´s proposal is hard to beat, THE sports watch for billionaires (the grey version :-) ). For more "humble" people I would recommend those: They all share the same movement (more or less; different finishing of course) and mine works perfect (!) sinc...

and really his are the only true movement-lover's sport watches... Only problem, the Centigraphe is a bit too busy for my taste... And the date/time versions are unappealing design-wise for my taste... But who can argue with Journe's movements!!

My pick would be the DB24. Lightweight and designed for vigorous use. No extraneous functions, no rotating bezels, no date! Honest product by people more interested in making improvements than making ads about it. Beautiful from all angles but case-back v... 

. . . between the two objectives, Mostel. The only watch I can think of that embodies both virtues would be a vintage steel Longines 30CH chronograph. Steve G owns this specially made edition . . . [images posted with permission] . . . so, while you won't...

but if this is a "sports" watch in steel, you can go for this one as well: The movement is in a league of its own. Nonetheless, I am not sure if I would play Golf with it ... :-) Oliver ...  

. . . there's no shortage of ostensible sports watches with refined movements, but who would play tennis with a Dato? I wouldn't even play pool with one, for fear of marring it. Art

Steve G always has the coolest watches for sure, I love the contrast of the blue hands and is the dial porcelain white or does it have a slight silverish hue to it? Thanks for sharing :-) S
