Besides the white gold and blue details on the dial....
I do prefer the Arabic numerals as well as all the the hands - hour, minutes, seconds and chrono on the ALS....
I fully understand this preference.
But I feel differently because of my taste for classic/vintage design.
I would have to go for ALS
YG doesn't work for me, WG/PT or RG does however, even if I yet have to do it.
If YG isn't you cup of tea, then there's not even a choice to make!

The 1815 is certainly the best watch but I choose the Patek
For the fluidity of the lines
Not always true, but the Lange is the “warmer” watch here.
And so I’d go with the 1815. I think the Lange also suits my personal taste better here, it is an easier watch to transition to casual with.

But for the split I would have chosen the fabulous Patek 5370

To be honest Lange makes boring dials and the absence of applied indices is also a solid drawback. Still the dial of this 1815 looks quite fresh.

Aha! You’re absolutely right, as the caliber is 4Hz.
That said, I think Patek deliberately chooses to ignore this fact. I don’t think it’s a mistake at all: they know what they do and decide that the 5 increment is nicer looking or something like that. Best, Emmanuel

In this case, the ALS because of, as others have indicated, the more appealing dial and the arabic numerals.
But if given the choice, I would prefer a later iteration of the 5170 over both of these, for example the 5170R or 5170G-010 (both with arabics and those gorgeous leaf hands). Cheers, Pieter

I think it's not so much about Patek for me: it's more about the vintage vibe of the 5170J (at least I think that's what counts for me).

For me, the VC and the PP have great appeal front and back, whereas the ALS is much more attractive from the back than from the front. Just my perception of things, of course. Best, Emmanuel
I feel the same way, even if I have to admit that the ALS movement is very impressive and quite special.
But the Patek movement is less in "showing off" mode (not the right words, but something like that).
