Thanks for raising this very interesting question;
My summary would be to do as one pleases because very few people will notice.
There used to be rules like “no brown in town” (more in UK?) and no white after labour day (USA) but firstly I think few people remember these nowadays.
Moreover I believe that we in this forum are not representative (Statistically speaking) of the population. As such few if any people will notice. Was recently in a very serious meeting (board) stand some people were wearing fitness trackers, other Apple Watches so I’m sure the colour of the strap is the smallest question mark if at all
I wear for instance withe on my OS regardless of season, it is just one of the most casual look it takes
Question for the group: what’s the general feeling around wearing white straps in the fall & winter time? Appropriate or not?
Many women have a general rule around wearing white shoes after Labor Day, that is usually No. Kollokium Variant F , with custom white AND purple strap. To my way of thinking, the purple justifies me wearing it in the Fall, am I wrong? ...

White is pretty neutral, so it really should be fine year round... isn't white one of the primary Winter colors anyways?

I only have a handful of white (or off white) straps and wear them in winter, too. But you might be a bit wary of following my strap advice 😂😂😂 And the white and purple is a great combo with the watch / dial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Seiko Izul SDAA001 on a white toad strap...

I would not have changed my choices anyway. But they tend to be somewhat less conventional - hence my opinion is possibly not the mainstream 😁
