Enjoying my Nautilus and Piaget Polo S this weekend

Enjoying the start of my weekend with PP Nautilus 5712 and Piaget Polo S Green limited edition. Some say the Polo S is a copy of the Nautilus when it was launched back in 2016. Yes on a macro level they have the same 70s Genta design cues. But the Polo case shape looks much more like the Piaget's Emperador's cushion case shape.

As the owner of both, definitely the Nautilus wears more comfy (that silky bracelet is unbeatable for comfort) and is the better finished watch movement-wise (although I'm comparing my Geneva seal mark one 5712 with the micro rotor 240 calibre instead of the 5711 with calibre 324 and a full rotor). The Polo S has a much more vibrant dial especially in this emerald green which pairs nicely with this green strap. A nice summer and fun watch, which works well in the evenings too as the Polo has that sporty chic feel.

With the Nautilus (all references) so unattainable and expensive in the secondary market now, I am skeptical of their current value even if they are nice watches. The Piaget is nowhere near as iconic and coveted but at a price point that's good value for what I get. The dial, which I look at most of the time, plays with light very well and is nicely finished. Especially in this irresistible emerald green. The regular Polo S blue is also very nice along with the blue Polo Skeleton. Maybe Piaget can grow this collection to be as successful as the Bulgari Octo some day.

I hope more collectors have a look at Piaget. I have done so from this year and I never looked back šŸ˜€

Cheers
Robin
