Horological Meandering

Floating the boat.

TM, yes, as a Purist (rather than a retailer) why acquire anything that doesn't float the boat? No need for Rolexes or Pateks (or Dufours of Voutilainens) unless they race one's heartbeat.  But if ownership is restricted by budget, isn't the equation made less pure?  If one truly knows what one likes (a priceless painting) is it more pure to leave one's walls bare and visit the museum on Sunday than to own a work from an artist inspired by the original?

Or is it a false choice entirely? Does the Purist merely continue to seek until the transcendent (art, car, watch, barbecue) is obtainable?

Best,

Jed
