Thanks Thomas and Art, y ou have helped focus my thinking on this.
It is helpful to separate out the more objective aspects (materials used, fit and finish reflecting workmanship, resale value, etc.) from the subjective aspects (emotional reactions, beauty, art, etc).
And there is a difference between watches that are currently or easily available and vintage pieces where originality, condition, rarity, provenance, etc. become important.
I would have liked Albert Einstein’s watch in my collection.
