Andrew, Good post. I'd suggest the Omega Speedmaster as a good candidate and suspect that you may agree judging by your post elsewhere ;o) Whether modern (although the new price has gone up a bit I think) or vintage i think they offer great value. Regards...

One of the biggest reason which explains why I keep a watch is the sentimental feeling that I have with it. There are another feelings too, but this one is important.... all of us have a sentimental feeling with one or more of our watches, and it doesn´t ...

Since i have not a lot to choose from i can consider these four watches as good value for money ... The two old Alpina's on top i should say ... ridiculisly low in price but accurate to less than half a minute per week ... and some kind of history ... A S...

...the Longines Legend Diver is the best buy out there right now in terms of the amount of watch you get vs. the money you fork over to purchase it (IMO only, of course). Cheers, Daos...  

Particularly the 55x or 56x calibres. Magnificent movements and still very affordable.

From the AD experience to the details of the watches, I feel that Breguet is the best value for the money. Not talking about resale value here but buying a piece of luxury and beautiful craft.

But tradition, proprietary movement, and so many other things aside, this has been keeping to +-5 seconds a day, has a quite nice fit and finish and is 1/60th the price of the cheapest Breguet. Seagull 2504 movement. A lot of value for the money on a fund...

Timex could be said to have more tradition than some of the re-invented brands. VFM, for sure. Now I need to post a photo of the the 6105-8110 Seiko I got for nothing....infinite value for money.

hello again! I've noticed lately on my travels that some sports Rolex that not so long ago you either had a very long wait for or had to pay a premium if you wanted one quickly now seem to be openly available in dealers windows (Green sub, Deepsea, Explor... 

take the sub for example. there are hundreds of examples of divers watches that are as accurate, have same or better depth rating with excellent finish for far less money. forget the in-house movement, its not relevant, forget the history, Landrover lived...  

Graham, No need for apologies - I was sort of being devils advocate by suggesting this - wanted to see what the reaction was!! The MIH is a very good suggestion for this thread though so no arguments from me - always pops up when value is discussed. See y... 

for me, the defining equation is very simple - value for money=the spread between intrinsic value and the "market price" (what it is being offered to me for) for some, intrinsic value may include things like prestige, recognizability by others, "coveted" ...

For me Rolex has an excellent value for money. At least because when you need to sell a Rolex, you don't lose a lot of dollars. That's not the case of almost all the other brands. Fr.Xavier

Jack, my comment was just my own opinion and i thought it would get some backlash. what i would say is that to many people a $1000 divers watch with eta 2824 inside it and high quality german made case has to be better value for money than a $4000 watch. ... 

what about $800 watch with pretty much the same as the $1000 watch you describe? What about $500? What about a high quality China made case? Price vis a vis VFM is a very slippery slope... Cheers, TM

The assertion you made is potentially a legitimate one according to the terms of the original post, which, after all, asks what watches one thinks represent value for money. We are obliged to some degree therefore to consider price points relative to what... 

Jack, i stick by my original opinion on the VFM(or not) of the Rolex brand, what i agree with Thomas on was that i was wrong to bring monetary figures into the post. he is quite correct that once you start on a figure its easy to slide all the way to noth...

It's 39MM. The watch wears tallish due to it's vertical sides and wears large because of the thin bezel. It's my upper limit for size/height and I almost didn't keep it because of the size issue. Glad that I did though. Here's an ill-timed wrist shot just...  

value for money is the watch that I wear and enjoy the most and the one that I will give my son when he gets his first job. I have not decided which one it will be- but the one that I will give him, it would be the best money that I have spent on a watch ...
