Horological Meandering

How about a "shockingly" good price/quality ratio watch?

Lately we have seen new watch releases with price tags that left me speechless (especially watches from one major watch group, all brands confused).

No relation any longer to the horological content nor to the intended target audience.

In reaction I wanted to show a watch that I feel is offering a tremendous quality/price ratio :the Longines Hydro Conquest diver.

Here we have a watch with a very good quality at a really attractive price point.
Within the Longines catalogue this is even much better priced than many of their other models, including the heritage inspired watches.

You get a ceramic bezel, superb grey sunbrushed dial, very good case,300 m WR and a movement exclusively made for Longines by ETA.
Overall finishing well above the price range.

Some details are not really worse than on an Omega.

A good decision to have a nicely engraved solid case back.

Great lume as well.

Mine is the 41 mm version (there is also a 43 mm) which wears very well on my 17 cm wrist.

Besides this grey dial  there are also black ,blue and green dial options.
The watch can also be had with a steel bracelet. This one however does not have a quality equal to the rest of the watch.
My recommendation is therefore the nice rubber strap.

A few minor negatives: some sharp edges on the clasp and a crown design which is not very finger friendly.

All in all however a solid, attractive Swiss made watch from a reputed brand offered at a price point that puts shame on most other brands.

Thanks for looking,
Gerard
