Cartier managed many laudable feats in his life but also ensured one thing - the slow and inexorable decline of pocket watches. This situation - while quite practical in everyday life - poses a difficulty for me at the moment. Namely my mother has decided...  

You might possibly have heard of a company called Montblanc... ;-) Have you thought of the 4810 Orbis Terrarum pocket watch? Not a manufacture movement, but it is a very attractive piece. Get into higher price points and AP, VC, PP etc all have classical ... 

It was the only thing that came to mind as being current, interesting and pretty affordable. Coming from MB, for KMII, is icing on the cake! Best E.

Just that my mother has a different appreciation of watches and different financial abilities... Still I\'m very grateful - as it may well be one I get myself

That I did not think about that one straight away. And your suggestion is highly fitting for me but not sure my mother will be quite able to stretch to it. But thanks anyway - goes onto my list of a possible first Montblanc, even if it will maybe not come...

For the ideas! The People People I had bookmarked from your original post already and the 61RW was on my list, too - the newer quartz one looks the same (-ish) but it is the 61 calibre version from the 1970s I\'d go for Lots of solid ideas you posted ther...

I did not post the limits initially and it\'s nice to dream... My mother would probably have a stroke, though Great, fabulous piece at any rate!

They have some pocket watches in their Zeitmeister lineup. Based on Unitas movements if I remember correctly and quite affordable. I think they even co e with a German Chronometer certification. Beat, Martin
