Today I have found some in addition to these and to the EPOS. Of course you might want to specify if it must be mechanical or if quartz is acceptable to your mother's budget. Or perhaps a team effort where you identify some watches and they get acquired "pre-owned" but wrapped and presented to you.

That I did not think about that one straight away. And your suggestion is highly fitting for me but not sure my mother will be quite able to stretch to it. But thanks anyway - goes onto my list of a possible first Montblanc, even if it will maybe not come...

IMHO, pocket watches would know a revival one day (may be not so far). Even if one of the best way to acquire a wonderful vintage pocket watch is auctions (not so expensive), you should think about this Epos ;-)

You might want to check out WEMPE
They have some pocket watches in their Zeitmeister lineup. Based on Unitas movements if I remember correctly and quite affordable. I think they even co e with a German Chronometer certification. Beat, Martin
