Horological Meandering

Mark XV cousins

Hi pplater,

Your British Spitfire Mark XV looks rather spiffing on its aftermarket strap. I have always liked those applied numerals. Is it distracting that the central brushed area eats into the 10 and 11?

I read that the Type XX and XXI were supplied to the French Air Force and probably saw some action in the French-Indochina war. The Type XXI has a central chrono minute counter hand as well as the chrono second hand. How do you find that arrangement for reading elapsed time compared with the more common subdial arrangement exemplified by the Speedy Pro?

I like the Glashutte Original as well. A no-frills Pilot’s chronograph, even more pure than the Speedmaster; typically German I guess.

Thanks for the images.

Andrew
