as often we have to confess our wives are usually right even if we do not readily admit it. At the same time your son is also right in discovering the differences between your 5 watches.
They are different, but of the same kind - both are right in a way.
You discribe the phanomenon of concentration (or reduction as cooks would call it) which leads to a clarification of the essence of one´s taste which is archetypical. The older I get, the clearer I observe this tendency in my collection. Admittedly there may occur some exceptions, probably an expression of the "variatio delectat" principle. But on the long run the classic taste will prevail again.

The Vacheron is for me the finest one. If the Patek didn't have the date, I would have ranked it first. The Lange is a sure value, and the JLC is the smart one. Excellent taste, my friend. What's next? ;) Best, Nicolas

For me, it's Patek number one, even with the date window, and Lange close number two. GS looks very clean, and as Nico said the JLC is the smart choice! Congrats!

The Lange, Seiko and Vacheron get my vote. I would be very happy with anyone of them. The Patek and the Jaeger are a hair too busy for me. A fantastic single-theme collection.
