Watch "skeletons in the closet"? Definitely!
Thank you Edward for your kind comments. Oh yes, there definitely were others I bought in the 3 year journey which I later realized were not quite me. My preferences evolved over time (and I'm sure will evolve further), so I've sold some others which just did not quite get the same love.
An example would be an Omega Speedmaster - I had bought it as my first chronograph. I realized over time though that at 42mm it was too big for my skinny wrist, so I let it go earlier this year. I've generally kept to the sizes of 35-38mm for dress watches and 38-40mm for sports watches. Another 'skeleton' would be a vintage dress watch with a square case - never quite got the wrist time it deserved even though I thought the square case would be good quirky fun - and it's probably going to go up for sale sometime soon.
So yes, a few 'skeletons' on the way to defining the essence of any collection, but that's part of the fun of the journey!
A foolish consistency?

I consider myself a newcomer in watch collecting, having only been at this hobby for the past 3 years. Much like Kolosstt's journey , my initial steps were somewhat meandering - intermittent missteps, occasionally on the right path, but always learning, a...

The Vacheron is for me the finest one. If the Patek didn't have the date, I would have ranked it first. The Lange is a sure value, and the JLC is the smart one. Excellent taste, my friend. What's next? ;) Best, Nicolas
Very nice display.....

of fine watches indeed. The Vacheron Constantin is my favourite. I understand that you're not into chronographs, however, what about the "Historique Chronographe" from VC? It is 37mm and in platinum would, in my opinion, be a fantastic complement to your ...
Thank you everyone!

... for your many kind comments and suggestions, and for reassuring me that I'm not obsessively mad :) It's fascinating for me how each of you has a different favourite among the five watches, and for very different reasons! Personally, my favourite is th...
Not foolish at all.

Each watch has its own traits. Each is very different. All are substantial pieces that, I would think, anyone here would be happy to have. Three-hand watches are the backbone of many collections, and are the essence of watch-making and watch-collecting. C...

You have a curator's eye for watch collecting and I agree with everyone here that this white on white themed collection is spectacular. I would be interested to know if you made any mistakes in your three year watch collecting journey? Any breguet marine ...
