From time to time I will read about Purists selling for one reason or another. Then, in a matter of years, or months, for some of us, we re-buy. We reacquire that special piece that sang to us, that kept us up at night, that we so stupidly sold. I just saw a members heartfelt post about reacquiring a very special PP. In fact I am guilty of doing this, and there will be an incoming in just a few weeks. Curiously, (crazily) I have re-bought the same (or similar) model as many as 3 times! Have you ever re-bought? How many times of the same (or similar) model?? 🙂

A very methodical and logical response
I imagine there will be several of us who choose not to reacquire, as there are many (perhaps too many) choices of others to try. It cannot be denied that there is a certain level of emotion involved when rebuying . It happens! I had a large sell off late...

I’ve bought Omega AT 38.5 twice, ALS 1815 three times (in different case sizes and metals), and GP Laureato (in different sizes and dial colors) 3 times! Perhaps this behavior is trial and error, seeing which “fits” the best??

Sold three of them because they were “too big”. You gotta be a little nuts to buy a watch which states it’s big and complain about the generous diameter but that’s where we’re at. Happy to report I still have my 4th in the collection. ...

Were the previous 3 BPs different models? I have the newer 501001, which is a regular for me. But each time I see examples of your original, it really nudges me. But I can’t have two…I would have to move my current version first, if possible.

Started with a 5004... sold it only to instantly regret it and start obsessing over a 5002. Got the 5002 and gave it up probably a year later, swearing off ever owning another BP. Then the titanium version came out and figured the weight and titanium look...
Very true, it is an easy read on the eyes…and certainly has a cool factor to it.
The reasons I find the 5002 more striking than my newer version is the silver linings of the hour/minute hands as well as the date window. But functionally it gets the job done the same.

It took me 2 Big Pilots before I really got the "too big" message. I had, sold and then had to find another exact example of 3 UNs. Annual Calendar Chronograph Big Date (white dial on
bracelet), Blue Max and blue dial 40mm version of San Marco GMT +/- (all very hard to find!). Sold a Speedmaster Moon to Mars and a Porsche Design P6000 with red dial-black PVD to a friend. Later realized I had to find other watches in my collection to us...

I have rebought 2 pieces, twice. Did not resell again. One three years ago and the other about six years ago, no looking back, very happy that I went back to the well... there's a few other sales that I have some remorse about but not going to repurchase....
The best are the ones where you never look back
The others? I know almost immediately about sellers remorse, I’ve made a mistake I regret and I’ll be buying back soon.
