for understanding the basic goal of my post (discussion prompter); that's more or less my goal with all my posts, which I realize puts me in danger of becoming a provocateur in the bad sense. But that's never my intent; I hope to foster good faith conversation, with disagreement, cordially expressed, not only accepted but even expected.
The third paragraph of your post, by the way, comes as close as anything I've seen recently to expressing what luxury means to me, at least in the world of watches.
