That the Cali is the only one to not be a Compressor Case... But this is a nice re edition of the Vintage, don't you think? As the Polaris, and the Longines are. Best, Nicolas

Is it right that JLC is one of THE companies producing alarm watches? Over the years I mean and different models at the time. GEO

We can even say that JLC was the first to produce a Diving Alarm Watch, with the Deep Sea Alarm, in 1959. Then, came the Vulcain Nautical, a bit later ( 1961 ? ) Then, since 1962, the first works on the Polaris came, to give birth to the Proto in 1963. If... 

I think if I was forced to choose one type of watch to wear for the rest of my life, super compressor cased dive watches might very well be it. I love all three examples you've chosen to photograph. Thanks for this picture! Cheers, Daos

Generally speaking, those are not the types of watches I traditionally patronize. That being said, your recently posted photos, both here and on the JLC forum, have admittedly sparked my interest and elevated my appreciation. Craig

Is it Small Nic or simply adequete? I've never personally liked either of the JLC or UG samples because of the ill proportioned cases....for my money the JLC with the fat case reminds me of an half used bar of soap (leaving aside the dial looks to belong ...  

Hi, Catherine, Yes, at this moment, 37 mm watches ware even considered too big! Using a 42 mm was a brave decision for U.G, JLC and Longines, but I'm preety sure I forgot some, here. Nowadays, 42 mm are more normal than 37 mm for Diving watches, and seem ...

A smaller Diving Wathc, the Master Mariner Deep Sea ( 37 mm ), and 2 years later, the Polaris II ( 43 mm ). So, I don' t know if they were obliged to release such big watches. Best, Nicolas

....you might find Northern Englanders tend to call Fat Ladys..'Fat Ladys'...on account of them not being thin Ladys. I guess someone dreamt up the word Fat for a specific reason. Do you think the case sizes were a brave new move from these brands Nic or ... 

The Longines Diver was born the same year, and the UG Polerouter too, or maybe a year before, for this last one. It will be interesting to know when the other Big Super Compressor Case Watches were released, but let's assume that these 3 were among the ve... 

I guess we'll never actually know which way it went...i've always felt the Polaris looks to be gagging to have an external chronograph bezel dropped on it (along with a movement installed)....especially given it was the manual chrono period and maybe the ...
