Horological Meandering

There is plenty to ask your retailer about the hundred or so screws

In an average watch, almost 100 screws are employed.

Ask about the threading procedure, you are paying a lot of money.

Ask if standard pitch, thin pitch have been used to fasten the plates you are examining and why.

High end watches don't use roller/runner plates to compress the screws to form the threads.

High end watch making trys not to compromise, hence they try to use longer threads on their screws, as these hold the plates better, more secure.

And they must be polished.
