Horological Meandering

You're welcome!

Good luck with this! Personally. I have a lot of dress watches and honestly, I don't use them often. I use my sportier watches. I tend to go for sporty models that are a little special. Like Reversos (this was the first sports watch), Nautilus, Octo Finissimo, and I currently like the Alpine Eagle. If I were you, I'd consider selling the Submariner - to me, it's not that special. It's also replaceable if you really want another one. It also depends on what else you have. The Lange to me is an heirloom watch - it's a peak quality watch. You may have nicer "flagship" watches - but this Lange may represent you the most. Which watch would you wear in a family portrait? That's the one your eldest child would probably expect. He or She might want the Lange. Also... If you have dozens of watches, don't expect your children and family members to be happy to inherit too many watches. I find that the average daughter might want up to two or three of your watches, and the average son three to four. So succession planning is important here! If your child/ren are crazy about the Submariner, then allocate that one for posterity. Other than that, sell it.
Lastly, try this, try approaching the matter from my perspective. Why my perspective? Because I don't have any emotional ties to the watches. You have emotional ties to them so you're biased. I don't have those ties. I don't know the stories. I don't know the history. So I'll be more objective. Think from this objective manner and you'll find your answer!
