Dear Bjoern, thank you so much for this invaluable post. I learned many things and can agree with your sentiment that “At Baselworld almost everything looks bland in Hall 1 when you visited before the Atelier brands”. So true. Let your article put to rest the stigma surrounding CNC machines... they are clearly here to stay and something that should be embraced. Going about watchmaking without CNC as Mr. Dufour has chosen to do has a nice romantic feeling which I can understand is irresistible to some clients.
Horology is so wonderful in that we can recognize the masters in their lifetime, the jury doesn’t need to wait till their passing to reward their genius. It was fun to read that Kari outbid Vianney for a Contemporaine, illustrating just how highly these geniuses regard each other.
Thank you for taking us along on the ride. I am selfishly listing this as a “Hall of Fame” post so that when I search that phrase down the road looking for a great read I can easily find it again.

But I believe that all of Dufours components are milled by CNC machines, they just all come from external sources and not his own workshop. He then finishes them in his workshop. His watches are primarily examples of fine finishing. But please correct me ...
