I have been told
that the Signature One in steel is sold out while there are still quite a few steel Remontoires remaining which is quite surprising to me as these watches have been priced pretty competitively taking into account the quality and beauty of the movement.
As I do not have unlimited means, I live by this philosophy - it is better to buy the cheapest item in the best brand than the most expensive item in the cheapest brand. Hence perhaps my penchant for stainless steel rather than say platinum

You are right Sake :-)
but I would have thought the 25 Remontoires would have been sold in a few months as they are a relative bargain I guess the stigma of buying from an independent will always exist.
The 11 blue dial signature ones for the US market are sold out.
The remaining 22 (with different dials) have to be ordered directly from GF. I would be surprised if those are also all gone.

In general I prefer steel and platinum. Both are "pure".
