It's all part of the brand ethos

Berneron's goal was never to make only quirky asymmetric watches - sticking with the same design aesthetic would be contrary to the whole ethos of Berneron. Sylvain left Breitling because he was trapped within their design constraints. If he does the same with Berneron, why leave Breitling? It was never about the Mirage's design language.

Really, what Berneron is about is doing innovative things with watches. The Mirage wraps the case around the barrel for a 72h power reserve, and has an inverted handset reducing thickness. The Quantieme has a date wheel with equal spacing so the numbers aren't cramped, and a clever way of reading the watch and protecting the case.

These are all first of their kind, obvious common-sense improvements that in 500+ years of watchmaking no one has put to life. That is what people pay for, that is the horological significance of this brand, and that is why the Quantieme simply cannot be compared to your run of the mill annual.
