as suggested by MTF in 2008
I was originally suggested by me in 2007 to name 5 Independent watches and 5 Mainstream pieces and brought up by dear Rob in 2008.
Let's do it again but as suggested by MTF, Single 'Forced Choice'......it works well with current economy state ;-)
You can state your reasoning too as it makes your train of thoughts more interesting.
Also, do state one piece of mainstream watch too so we can see what you are seeing in relation to what your independent watch is.
I start first........
Independent - DUFOUR SIMPLICITY.
At one point I was hoping that the movement is something more special, be it a hidden tourbillion like the PP5101, an Observatory rate movement or even something like the Dufour Duality.
Now, I just love the fact that it is just simply a very well made, well finished watch based on the tradition of watchmaking in Vallee de Joux. There's no pretense to be anything else, no further complication, just a simple piece of watch that tells time and constantly reminds you the beautiful craft of watchmaking in its purest.
It is a very zen piece and one that I'm very proud to finally 'understand' it.
MainStream- PATEK 5970 (yawn yawn) .
It is a watch that I first love, desire and eventually got it., hate it/sell it due to the hype and then buy it back again due to love and hate it again
due to further hype....... it's the continuation of love/hate that makes this watch to this list.
I believe this feeling will constantly be there, maybe that's good
It is very good looking and very wearable, making it a very slight notch above my close second, Lange PLM Tourbillon.
I look forward to hear from you guys
Please keep it to only one choice each .
Cheers
