Small scale production...

is often not appreciated by suppliers. I have seen lots of dials produced for AHCI members or other small manufacturers which were scratched, the print misaligned, the pain or coating unevenly applied and the like. Of course, the suppliers would not offer refund or exchange, so as a small manufacturer you often have no remedy.

There even is a case (but I won't give names) where tools had been made available to a dial producer by a small watch manufacturer. Some dials were made, but a couple of months later the tools were sent back without any explanation: This was a non-verbal cancellation of the contract!

The arrogance with some elements of the watch industry landscape is mind-blowing. They know exactly that small manufacturers are dependent on them, and often have not the personal or financial resource to go to court.

Best,
Magnus
