Independents

Thanks, Graham!

I wish I had a lovely, slim wrist, and you are nice to assume so, but I'd say my hands and wrists are more like a pugilist's than a lady of leisure.  It's my dad's farmer genes at play (I got his ridiculously wide feet as well.  What can you do?  It's all biology!).  Generations upon generations of rice farmers don't sire delicate Asian blossoms (or at least not in my case!).

As for the jump seconds, it's one of my favorite complications, and much like you I can't explain why I'm attracted to it.  A sweep seconds works just fine, and I enjoy its smooth, continuous motion around the dial, but there's just something interesting about a jump seconds.  I certainly like the juxtaposition of stillness and movement that the complication provides.  Like so many things, watches and their complications impact me more emotionally than logically.

Cheers,

Daos
