Its interesting that you bring up this watch
it was a time when IWC was a brand I admired, perhaps more than any other. A great piece for sure. I also like your remark about the outdated design. I agree, of course. But I have thought many times that one day this design will become desirable by a broader audience again, due to the classical components and harmonious layout and size. Also the movement is something that holds respect.
We miss the IWC that contributed to watchmaking with watches like this and the Porsche designs.

I always vacillate between this one the the original Da Vinci Perpetual Chrono ref 3750 as my favourites. Have never owned either but keep longingly Looking at them even now

per IWC. Reading between the lines that would be the justification for premium besides new case design & warranty. Sure IWC should make some of their R&D investment back but it seems awfully aggressive when we all understand where IWC stands in the market...

I do value the warranty and simple purchasing. That is very important to me, but only to a point.... there must be reason not folly!
