The minute repeater was invented for night policemen to tell time in the dark. So these were working watches! So, I'm glad to see it's working in a supermarket! Put it to work and put it on the payroll!

Very interesting. A MR was not too delicate for „tough missions“? This second generation Ref. IW5242-02 has the same 54-jewel Calibre 95290 that also was implemented in the first Portugieser Minute Repeater in 1995. This movement is inspired by an old IWC... 

Minute repeaters, the complication, came out of necessity for night policemen. At night, the town square would have its noisy clock turned off - since you don't want the clock to chime in the middle of the night affecting the citizens from sleeping. Polic... 

I’m sure your IWC survived it without any damages. 💪

But some people thought I was very risqué for doing it.

I take extreme care of my things, especially watches. BUT watches should simply be worn and not treated like little babies. They are (among many other wonderful aspects) also everyday objects.
