IWC

Thanks a lot dear, eklektik!

This was my personal grail watch for a very long time and it took me 24 years to get it.

The IWC Minute repeater was first released in 1995. Gunther Blumlein, CEO of IWC and one of the great geniuses in the modern watch industry, wanted to add another dimension to IWC and to show IWC could be on the top of the world of high-end watches.

This wonderful Portugieser Minute Repeater immediately won my heart. It was love at first sight.

But I was light years away from being able to afford such a watch at the time!

In 2006 IWC introduced its second generation Portugieser minute repeaters Ref. IW5242-02.

And from then on it took another 13 years to catch this miracle. When I found the right specimen for me, a collector's watch in Platinum that had disappeared in a safe in Milan for ten years, unworn (!!!), and had been completely serviced by IWC half a year before my purchase, it was all over me.

On November 25, 2019, I got on the plane to Milan in the morning and picked up this good piece personally.

On my wrist was my Patek 5146 G, which I gave to the retailer as part of the purchase price. At that time, collector friends asked me if I had completely lost my mind about swapping a Patek for an IWC.

But I didn't care at all. I spent a wonderful day in Milan with the watch love of my life on my wrist and flew back to Vienna in the evening. And to this day I have not regretted this action for a single second.

This was one of my first wrist shots, taken on the day of acquisition in Milan:

All the best and good luck for your hunt. ☺️
