Ask him
As a watch to be worn every day for business I am warming to the Geophysic True Second. It is a good-sized handsome watch, the dead-beat second feature is horologically interesting, and the ability to adjust the date and hour both forward and backwards without stopping the watch is very practical for travelling.
That being said, I think the best advice is to ask him what he likes. It will be his watch so it should be his choice.
When my daughter graduated I wanted to buy her a Rolex, but when I asked her she decided she didn’t like the look of Rolex and after looking around she set her heart on a Nomos.
So ask him! You may be pleasantly surprised!
