Brilliant report! But...
Thanks so much for this wonderful and complete report! I had a chance to see this piece at SIHH, and agree with you that it is mesmerizing.
The "but..." is that I think you have perhaps been a bit harsh toward the original Reverso RM. Maybe I simply got a good example, but I find the volume and quality of the tone to be excellent (likely aided by the RG case) and the regulator is quiet -- much quieter than that on most other repeaters I've heard.
The new watch is great, but so is the old one!

SIHH 2011: Celebrating the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso 80th anniversary with a new minute repeater a Rideau!
So you may have understood now that the original reason for all these is a celebration. 1931 saw the birth of a watch that became an icon, a real icon, one of the very few real icons of the watch amateurs, and to some extent beyond the realm of watch amat...
So this makes it the second "rideau'
Actually, although this has not been mentioned, this watch to me seems very inspired by one of its predecessaor, the small purse watch 'à rideau' Not a repeater, but operating on the same principle...

Hi, Indeed you have to fully open the curtain to activate the repeater and then it begins to ring when you let it go back closed. At that time you should not open it again as it could be harmful to the calibre. So yes you can't see the repeating plate wor...
