If you imagine the main spring in the barrel, there is a plate above the spring. The spring is wound one and a half turn, and two tiny screws are inserted to prevent it from winding completely down. The same contraption drives the power reserve display - and catches and releases the hook that locks the bumper winder to prevent over winding the main spring.

Yes, the condition struck me and the fact that it is from the late 1950 ies. A great piece of watchmaking and very affordable, too.
Not only a pretty face: runs +/- 0 sec. during wearing and +2 sec. leaving it overmnight.
