Jaeger-LeCoultre

Not yet for me.

I see myself as kind of the opposite giving up the sporty for the dress watch. Though it does not mean I dislike sporty watches, I am just more a laid back, sentimental person. Maybe I am more pen than sword? If I had to buy a diver's watch to actually go diving it would probably be the Rolex DS. In terms of a divers watch to wear at the office it would be a JLC Polaris; and a Panerai to wear while relaxing on deck by the sea!

I think that there will always be opportunities to wear a nice dress watch whatever your profession/occupation. Whether it be at a presentation, a speech at a conference, a son's graduation, dinner with the wife/partner/mistress, at a museum/gallery, or simply at home reading a good book by the fire.

As for influence, I believe that it is our personality that influences are watches, and not the watches themselves. Of course the former (I would argue) governs all our choices, thus one might claim a watch to be an extension to who we are. A window perhaps, allowing people a glimpse within.
