Montblanc

Enjoyed the post, Mike!

Thanks for the in-depth review.  Without a doubt, the offerings in the Villeret 1858 Collection are impressive, and are worthy testaments to Montblanc's assertions that they are serious about haute horology.  I'm impressed by the movement in the watch you reviewed, and I think the hunter caseback is an underutilized design element.  The grand feu enamel looks beautiful, and is probably more breathtaking in person.  Personally, I don't care for the dial design with its overlapping main- and sub-dials, and I am in agreement with you that there is too much superfluous writing on all the Montblanc dials.  Even so, I cannot deny that this watch bears the hallmarks of a high-end timepiece.  I think Montblanc has made huge inroads in capturing the hearts and minds of serious collectors, but my impression is that they will have to work doubly hard to also capture the pocketbooks of these same individuals who are presented with several other choices in this price range from established marques.

Thanks again for a great write-up.  I'm very impressed with what Montblanc has done with the Villeret 1858 line so far, and look forward to seeing their future efforts.

Cheers,
Daos
