Montblanc

Montblanc wins in my book...

The Lange is truly a formidable opponent.

But the Montblanc Villeret is truly the winner here.  For more than one reason.

Lange advantages:
- date

Similarities:
- Both have slower beats and relatively large balance wheels.
- Both are very highly finished.

Villeret advantages:
- Dial, enamel vs. non-enamel silver dial.
- much more traditional architecture, with partial pocket watch architecture.
- Lower price than Datograph.
- Costs the manufacturer much more man-hours to produce the Villeret over the Datograph.
- Datograph has a computer paired hairspring and balance wheel.  It's cut by computer.  Villeret hairspring is hand cut in a much more labor intensive process.
- Some experts will argue that the Villeret has better finishing.  It is important to note that the Lange has exceptional finishing already.
- Datograph has 36 hour power reserve, I think the Villeret has a longer power reserve.

In general, Lange holds true to its motto "State of the Art Tradition" whereas the Villeret is all about tradition.

One is much more old school than the other; the Villeret is truly quite vintage.  The Lange is incredibly true to its motto.  It's state of the art, but traditional as well; an impressive hybrid.
