But above all, Montblanc needs to protect and build its brand image. For me, seeing Montblanc pens and wallets etc for sale in duty free catalogues on planes really dilutes the brand image of the watches ! They are in danger of becoming a Pierre Cardin. Villeret on the other hand, is the total opposite, but so few people know of its existence , it is having little to no positive effect on the whole brand image. Mainly it is about the fine balance between increasing sales and protecting your brand.
