Officine Panerai

Nasty you ;-)

My posting of this thread is not on the basis that I support Panerai for making these re-editions.  I actually don't like these re-editions that much and I don't know why they started reintroducing them in the 1st place, but since they are, I thought this thread would provoke some discussion, of which I guess it is now

Nasty you ;-)

However, I do understand why Panerai is releasing these re-issues from a business perspective because I, as a consumer, never bought a PAM29 but was always interested in this model.  Now I'm considering whether or not purchase one of these new PAM29 re-issues.  Good for the consumer right?  But bad for the collector who has been collecting these more rare models.

‘business perspective’ I think good 'business perspective' starts foremost with client’s trust!

‘Good for the Consumer’s right?’ Which rights are we talking about? That the guy who bought a numerated watch is let down? Or that numerated watches should indicate xxxxx/unlimited production? Or that chosen watches which were not available to a region are suddenly made available allegedly catering for new markets/clients? I do not think this justifies breaking existing commitments.

If Panerai reintroduces the PAM21, I'd have no problem with it.  More people will get to enjoy the re-edition, and then usually the prices of the original hold or even go up (well in this case the original vintage model and then the 1st re-issue since this new PAM21 would be the 2nd re-issue).  Whether or not Panerai will make re-issue of the PAM21, I think it's a very slim chance since the PAM21 itself is already a re-issue.  But if they did, I'd have no problem about it at all.

It is not about prices, it is about the bonding agreement between the purchaser and the seller based on the offer in which both parties are committed.

It is not my say to tell Panerai you can do this or you can't do this since Richemont has shareholders to please, but we can express our hopes that they do preserve the integrity of past models.  During the times Panerai doesn't, I guess the consumer better jump over the opportunity if this model re-issued is a model he missed out on!

Whilst we cannot address this issue to those shareholders, I believe that the people in charge of making/creating those offers/dilemmas ought to respect their stands and most of all their customers.

Finally if we had 100,000 PAM 21, do you think its initial price would have been that high? do you think we would be talking about PAM 21?
Some people do enjoy privileges, exclusivities, discoveries and being one of the first or selected few, they paid for their rights too and first.

My unlimited best regards to you and you all.

Cheers,
Anthony
